Philip Kerr began his career with March Violets (1989), the first of the Berlin Noir trilogy, and later wrote a series of children's books under the name P. B. Kerr. The last of the latter appeared in 2011. He died in 2018. He wrote in a notebook every day and published over 30 novels.
