BookFeed

Rights & removals

BookFeed shows short passages from books so readers can find their next one. Here is how we treat the books we quote, and how to reach us if one of them is yours.

Who we are

BookFeed is a small reading app. Each card in the feed is one passage from a real book, shown with its title, author, publisher and year, and a link to read or get the whole book.

Public-domain books

Most books in BookFeed are in the public domain. We take their text from Project Gutenberg, Standard Ebooks and Wikisource, credit the source on every book page, and link to the full text there.

Books still in copyright

For newer books we show only short excerpts, a few at most per book, taken word for word from published sources such as the publisher’s own sample pages. We never show the rest of the text and never store it.

Every excerpt credits the author, title, publisher and year, and points readers to the book itself: a link to get it and, where available, a Google Books preview. The aim is to send readers to your book, not to replace it.

Asking for removal

If you hold the rights to a book quoted here and would rather we didn’t, email [email protected] with the title and, if you can, a link to the card or book page. We remove the excerpts within 48 hours and let you know when it’s done. We can also remove everything by an author or from a publisher.

Anything else

Corrections to a credit, a better link to buy the book, or a question about how we work: the same address reaches a person.
