BookFeed

Terms

Last updated: 5 November 2026

The simple rules for using BookFeed. By using it you agree to them.

Who we are

BookFeed is run by HOOTCODES LTD. Contact: [email protected].

Using BookFeed

BookFeed is free to read. You need to be 16 or over, or have a parent's or guardian's consent. You can read without an account; an account (email, Google or Apple) only keeps your shelf and map across devices. Keep access to your email and devices safe, because whoever can sign in with them can see your reading.

The books

Passages come from public-domain books and, for books still in copyright, from short excerpts that publishers make available, always credited, linked to their source and limited to a few per book. Rights holders can ask us to remove an excerpt on the Rights & removals page, and we act quickly.

Descriptions, translations, word definitions, portraits and some other texts are written with the help of AI. We check them, but they can be wrong: the book itself is the authority.

What you write

Your notes, highlights and answers stay yours. You let us store and process them only to run BookFeed for you, as described in the Privacy page. They are private: we don't publish them.

Fair use

  • Don't copy or collect the passages in bulk, or scrape the site.
  • Don't try to break, overload or get around the security of the service.
  • Don't use BookFeed to break the law or anyone's rights.

If someone does, we may limit or close their access.

Supporting, buying and promotions

Supporting BookFeed is optional. Payments are handled by Polar as merchant of record, under Polar's terms; your rights as a consumer, including withdrawal and refunds where the law gives them, stay intact. You can cancel a recurring support at any time, and it stops at the end of the period you paid for.

Some links to bookshops earn us a commission; prices and availability are the shop's and can change. Promoted books are always labelled as promoted.

The service

We work to keep BookFeed running and your data safe, but we provide it as it is, and features can change. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, or for losses from things outside our control. Nothing here limits rights you have by law as a consumer.

You can stop using BookFeed and delete your data at any time from Settings.

Changes and law

If we change these terms we will update this page and its date, and tell you in the app when the change matters. These terms are governed by the law that applies to our company, without taking away the protection of the law where you live.
