1902–1930

Polydouri trained as a legal clerk and died of tuberculosis just days before turning 28; her brief affair with the poet Kostas Karyotakis, who shot himself in 1928, shaped much of her verse.

Feels like melancholy, love and longing.

Why a station the moment the train has gone is the loneliest place there is.
